Woke about 7.30, had to have another change of pants today, this is soooo embarrassing, I had more control as a baby... Rang Sally in the morning (because she was the only person I knew would be up at that hour on a bank-holiday morning!) to tell her that Mammy and Daddy were going to come over to pick me up. Beautiful day again (like Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, all the time I'm stuck in bed of course!) but it was even warmer today. I'm hot anyway, but I'm also getting hot-flushes which means I'm drenching with perspiration most of the time. At least I'm able to pull myself up and down in the bed with relative ease so I can move around and try and find cooler positions. Danni rang about lunchtime to say she and Jess would drop down in the afternoon and shortly after that Mammy and Dad rang as well. While I was talking to them Toni arrived in so I said I'd ring back. It was great to finally meet Toni after all this time (Hi!), she'd been down visiting a friend and was heading back "oop north" this evening. Anna rang while Toni was there and we had a long chat, she is keeping all the antijenners informed as to my progress. Danni and Jess arrived in the middle of the afternoon (with no presents I might add, have you never visited someone in hospital before girls! ;^) They stayed for about an hour before heading off again (I guess the sight of me squirming on the bed trying to find a comfortable position was a little off putting :) Toni and I chatted on (about anything and everything) until about 7ish. Yippee! Today, not only did I get my piece of cake with my afternoon tea (which has been black without milk since last week, horrible!) but for the first time I'm off the clear fluid diet and on to real food! Salmon and scrambled egg never tasted nicer :) I asked the nurses today if it would be possible to stay on an extra night, as Mam and Daddy are planning to come over on the Friday evening and take me back on the Saturday. They don't think there will be any problem, but tell me to check with Mr. Royle anyway. I got the rundown on what is going to happen tomorrow (pack out day), basically Mr. Royle will come in, whip the pack out and insert a dilator while I'm puffing away on ethanox. And then it is bath-time (yay!) and I get to wash my hair (which has gone quite horrible after not being washed for so long). After that it's playtime with my dilators. I ask what time it's likely to happen and all they can say is sometime between 7.30 and lunchtime. Mammy and Dad rang that night again and I went off to sleep about 11.30 |
