The Dublin Insurance Athletic Society or D.I.A.S. as it is invariably known was established in 1914 to organise, develop and encourage athletic sport and recreation within the Insurance sector. It is affiliated to the Insurance Institute of Dublin with whom it maintains close links. It currently has a membership of approximately 100 entities, comprising Insurance Companies, Insurance Brokers and associated services such as Loss Adjusters and Motor Assessors. Many of the member organisations employ hundreds of staff and many operate with smaller staffing structures. In all the D.I.A.S. represents the sporting interest of thousands.

The D.I.A.S. is managed by committee that is elected annually. This committee consists of a President, Vice President, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer, together with representatives from a variety of sporting divisions. The current divisions are:

There is also a long standing tradition of matches between D.I.A.S. representative teams and other insurance institutes such as Cork, Limerick and Belfast in Ireland and London, Edinburgh and Glasgow in the U.K..
