The following map can take a long time to load, so please be patient as it is very detailed and well worth the wait!!To view it properly do the following:Maximize this window Left Click and HOLD on a scroll bar, and Drag the scroll bar to the desired spot. From the map you can get an idea of the area surrounding us. The Waterfront House is marked in at #1 in red. We are nestled right on the shores of Lough Corrib with the lake stretching away from us to the north right through to the south-east. We are surrounded by hills to the south right through to the north-west. With this combination it makes for an ideal walking and driving experience, looking down from high up out over this vast lake and upon the magnificently beautiful, rugged countryside. Lough Corrib is 30 miles long and 10 miles wide and is dotted with hundreds of islands, and from the hills you can almost see all of it at once - HEAVEN!!
The area itself is a network of country by roads. Most of these country roads at some stage have a little bridge crossing over one of the many streams rushing down from the hills to the lake. The roads are quiet and run through small west of Ireland farm holdings. Even without the scenery these roads would make for leisurely walks - but the scenery IS there and it is wonderful and this is what makes them more special!! Added to that, the hills themselves can lay claim to hundreds of little lakes dotted around the place. This is where the locals do most of their Coarse Fishing.
