Naomi O'Connor (representing FEXCO) was selected Kerry Rose 2000 on Saturday night, 20th May in the Brandon Conference Centre, Tralee

At the packed Brandon Hotel on Saturday night all of the 21 Kerry Rose contestants, for the 2000 Rose of Tralee Festival, were introduced to the audience attending the Kerry Rose Ball, which was presented this year in association with the Kingdom newspaper.

However only one could be the outright winner and she was Naomi O'Connor, representing FEXCO. Naomi (19 years old) was originally born in London but is now residing in Killorglin, where she is employed by FEXCO. The person Naomi admires the most in public life is Mo Mowlam for her ability to overcome adversity and her outstanding efforts to create peace in Northern Ireland. Naomi enjoys working in the tourism industry and feels that her perfect job in the industry would include travelling, in a self-employed capacity. Her hobbies include walking and hiking as well as traditional music.

For the record, the other beautiful contestants were:

Master of Ceremonies for the evening was local businessman, Joe Murphy, and he congratulated all of the contestants for taking part and paid tribute to the judges who had an unenviable task to pick just one winner. Naomi will now go on to represent Kerry in the International Rose of Tralee Festival in August.
