What Fund-Raising Events Are On In Tralee and around the county?

  • Brandon Hotel in Tralee:
    a basketball match in the Presentation Hall on Thursday night, the staff playing against the gym members!

  • Noreen Stack of Tralee General Hospital:
    walk or cycle to work for a week and raise as much money as she can.

  • ESB, Tralee and Tarbert:
    a POLE push from Tarbert to Tralee on the day.

  • Pocotts of Tralee and Castleisland:
    dress up and push a Pram from Castleisland to Tralee.

  • Rose of Tralee Stewards:
    boat push from Killarney to Tralee.

  • Caherleaheen NS, Tralee:
    a non uniform day and Donal O'Connor the principal wearing the People in Need T-Shirt for the day, over the shirt and tie!!

  • St. John of Gods Tralee:
    a sponsored walk around Tralee.

  • A Young up and coming band in Tralee called the VIBE:
    playing in the Square on Telethon Day and collecting also.

  • Gerry Savage:
    running a table quiz at the Glenduff House in Tralee.

  • Tesco Tralee:
    running on going events since the start of Lent and doing fun things such are potato peeling, jogging to work, no desserts and lots more fun and novel ideas to collect money for the People in Need.

  • Peter Keane and the Scribblers:
    having a gala table quiz at Hartys bar in Tralee - great fun and craic.

  • Youth Centre, and Paula Murphy:
    compiling a book of poetry and drawings called the Voices of Kerry.

  • Mozart's Restaurant in Ashe St.:
    doing a Salsa night in their Restaurant and this is guaranteed to be an excellent night as Lorna Tyther the belly dancer will perform there on the night.

  • Kerry County Council, Áras an Chontae:
    'charging' their staff to come to work on Telethon Day!! Now that's a novel idea....

  • Sean Óg's Staff:
    playing a football match against the Garda in the Kerins O'Rahillys Pitch.

  • Girl Guides:
    doing a 12 hour fast outside AIB on the day.

  • Popular Bar Man, Kevin Mc Govern of Sean Óg's Pub: having his hair and beard shaved off - will we still know him?
  •        

    Some other fund-raising events from around the county:

  • 30 Emmets footballers in Listowel:
    doing a solo run starting in Listowel square at 6.30pm on 5th. Also a penalty shootout in the Square and an open air disco.

  • Centra Caherciveen:
    having a sing-a-long in the shop all day, great fun assured there.

  • Iveragh Set dancers in Caherciveen:
    having a Céilí Night and launching a Millennium video of the night's fun.

  • Killorglin Golf Club:
    taking bets on the 18th hole and all proceeds going to the People In Need fund.

  • Dingle CBS school:
    having a seven aside soccer blitz with all the transition years in the county - great organisation here.

  • Wendy O'Neill of Killarney:
    having some of her music students playing the piano in Dunnes Stores in Killarney for three hours.

  • Currow Ramblers:
    walking the 7 summits of the Reeks.

  • Nano Nagle School in Listowel:
    doing a sponsored Car wash.

  • Tullaha NS, Kenmare:
    having a sponsored Art Day.

  • Nylerin Insurance Castleisland:
    Gold Putting Competition at Work, don't you wonder what some people do on their coffee break!!

  • A great night out at Revellers in Killarney:
    as Dancos put on a terrific fashion and a fun fun night.

  • Valentia Sports and Sailing Club:
    doing a 12 hour dive-a-thon in Valentia.

  • Parknasilla Hotel:
    doing a golf Scramble and a dry Pub Run.

  • Gaby's Restautrant in Killarney:
    having the pleasure of watching the owner Geert have his moustache shaved off, he is a well known character in the town and has not as yet been seen without his beloved moustache, his wife has pledged a hundred pounds!

  • Skellig Hotel in Dingle:
    doing a swim-a-thon averaging the distance of the Dingle Peninsula which is about 50 miles. Also running a fun exercise class for kiddies.

  • Cara Cheeseborough in Killarney:
    organising a 70's night.

  • At the Supervalu in Listowel:
    Laurel and Hardy appearing from 10 until 1pm.

  • Family Centre in Duagh:
    having a day of music and Craic at O'Briens Pub. Also having a coffee morning.

  • Beauty Contest with a difference:
    at the Wounded Knee pub in Knocknagoshel plus an auction and a raffle.

  • Rathmore:
    running a huge family/pattern day at the Teach lasagáin car park. Great things happening there, blood pressure testing, auction of Ronnie Moores painting, Landscape by Mary Sheehan & and an O'Neills Football that has been signed by all the Kerry team. The chairperson of the People In Need Trust, Eoin Liston, is absolutely thrilled with the response from all over Kerry, young and old who have come out to support the Telethon and he wishes to thank everybody for supporting it and wishes everybody the best of luck with their events.
