LOCATION & HISTORY

Founded in 1862, Aravon is the longest established preparatory School in Ireland. In 1984 the school relocated to its present elevated site, Old Conna House, a magnificent residence designed by Sir Charles Lanyon, designer of the National Art Gallery.

Surrounded by mature woodland, with 15 acres of terraced lawns and playing fields, Aravon enjoys panoramic views of Dublin Bay from Howth Head to Bray Head. Aravon is located beside the main Dublin / Wexford N.11 motorway and is convenient to residents of Dublin and Wicklow.

OUR ETHOS

Acutely aware of the importance of these formative years, Aravon School endeavours to create for its children a family atmosphere in which the qualities of independence, self-assurance and responsibility can be fostered.

Pupils are encouraged to cultivate enquiring minds, and to develop their talents to a level of academic achievement appropriate to their ability. Aravon enjoys a high reputation for preparing children for Secondary and Public Schools, both in Ireland and England.

Whilst academic learning is important, we place particular emphasis on the pupil acquiring a well-balanced, broad education, and making a positive all-round contribution to the school community. In this way, each child is prepared for the second stage of his or her educational life with a sound level of learning, skill and self-assurance.
