Dec 2003: Donal (snr) came home early for Christmas and was gone before Christmas eve.
Of course St. Stephens day
became a Carter clan gathering with the 'Mother of all the O'Farrells' presiding.
The only complaint was the decline in quality and quantity of champagne!
M&M took Ciaran and Kieran to the Odessey in Belfast to see the Giants in action at the end of the month.
Nov : Went canoe surfing in Tramore though the waves were nothing to write home about.
Oct : . Got a chance to travel to Russia and Germany with work.
Started a 6-week First Aid course.
M&M were refreshed by a week-long break in Fuertaventura.
Sept : . A successful year in the Liffey Descent.
This year I was back in a new K1 and was placed third in the Masters K1 class that was a long time comming.
August : Sarah is rehearsing for a new show.
Donal got a week's work experience at DPS Engineering and Kieran attended a Lets Go camp.
July : . Holiday (vacation) time for me. Next week most of us will move to Dunmore East while Donal goes to training camp (FCA). To counter the lack of sun, Marie & I are 'escaping' to the Canaries for Halloween.
June : . Newbridge did indeed win best host town award. Our family hosted two Japanese athletes, Hanami and Nanae, along with their coach, Itsuko.
They appear to have had an active week in Newbridge with numerous social events to be attended, and all after daily training!
During the Special Olympics the athletes were accomodated in Dublin at UCD.
Sarah missed the host family bit as she was sojourning in the Gaeltacht.
At least Sarah got to see the closing ceremony in Croke Park.
May : . Newbridge was one of 6 towns to receive a host town award as part of the Special Olympics and we encouraged everyone to vote online for Newbridge for the top prize.
Apr : . Donal's tonsilectomy sprung a leak and we had to visit Beaumont hospital to observe the agony of slow healing.
Mar : . St Paddy's Day was very mild with the flowers out early for our annual
Daffodil day photo.
A weekend in Barcelona, for M & M, showed us how expensive Ireland has become.
Feb : We volunteered to host a family during the Special Olympics.
Newbridge is host to the Japanese contingent. Other host towns are listed here.
Jan 2003 : NTR - Nothing To be Reported for the start to this new year(here anyway)!
No fireworks for sure.
