What happened during 2000 ...
December 00 : A river trip on St Stephen's Day from Athgarvan to Newbridge and weather was cold!
Granny was up for the Christmas and we had our 1 inch of show - nearly making it a
white Christmas.
October : Two river trips with Newbridge Kayak Club.
The first from Graiguenamagh to St Mullins and the second at the end of the month on the Dodder.
In both cases the the water high and weather was cold!
At least Athy pool is booked for the winter.
Got my CISA qualification - the exam was held last June.
September : I started the Liffey Descent but my canoe broke
at Lucan weir. Donal and Conal paddled a schools race on the Liffey from
Athgarvan to Newbridge College on the 16th.
August : We spent another weekend in Carne and I brought Donal and Conal on a kayak trip to Wellkeen. The following weekend Donal and I paddled the Lower Liffey canoe race (Leixlip-Palmerstown), with some great water!
June/July : Jillian Ryan came over on a visit from the US. We spent some time in Carne canoeing at the beach and at Yola farm nearby.
May : Sr Therese stayed over for a few days. Kieran made his First Communion as did his cousins Conor and Sean.
Our return from Florida was not without its problems - a hydraulic fault resulted in a 24 hr delay.
April : We travelled to DisneyWorld, spending one week in Orlando followed by another in Clearwater, Fl. Weather was good and not too hot or humid. Kieran really appreciated the magic kingdom while Donal enjoyed the Tower of Terror and Sarah got their hands on a yellow Pokemon !!
March : Celebrated Donal's (snr) 40th in Hangar Lane, London.
Celebrated Lisa and Peter Farrell's wedding on the 11th. All this after St Patricks Day was celebrated in the company of the extended Farrell family and supervised by Granny & Felicia. I am glad that's over !!
On the weekend after Paddy's day we took our annual
'Daffodil day' photos down at the river.
February : Not much to relate - I changed car.
Jan 2000 : Back to work and a bit of sleep deprivation as we adjusted. Granny has gone south (Tasmania) for a few weeks. We gathered a posse and went to the Garda Dance for the first time and with great success.
History: See Archive pages for old news and photos.
