What happened during 2002...
-
Dec : Very little canoeing these days - we got tired of the cold weather. The buildup to Christmas has started though I am well behaved and quiet lead up to Christmas. We had a good turnout for our annual pilgrimage (i.e. paddle) from Athgarvan to Newbridge on St Stephens day. Donal came over for Christmas. Marie annd Michael escaped to Gerry's for New Year's eve. Michael gave a demonstration of the destructive power of pyrotechnics - it is just as well that these things are illegal!
-
Nov : A quiet month socially. Spend some time devining the economic portents and wondering whether the US and Irish economies will pick up. So far not so bad. Bought a second hand K1 (underslung) but there are enough floods to get some use out of it. Marie has sat her last exam of the degree course - it is hard to believe that this started 6 years ago!
-
Oct : Donal & Sarah competed in
Newbridge Kayak Club
Canal race in dire conditions to win prizes.
We went to
Inchydoney
Apartments for the October Bank Holiday.
The waves were perfect for canoe surfing!
-
Sep : The Liffey Descent for me again in a Slalom boat. Attended
COSAC conference and found it to be
different to expectations. Donal achieved great Junior Cert results.
-
Aug : Started on golf - I bought a bag for the clubs! At least the
weather is good for the month.
-
July : Holidays in France at La
Sirene, in Argeles. No doubt about it - prices are lower in France
and Spain. We flew out with Ryanair and hired a car. Because of the associated
baggage limitations my wine cellar was not replenished this Summer.
-
June : The Junior Cert exams for Donal.
-
May : . Donal prepared for the Junior Certificate, Sarah went to
Uisce and Kieran is just looking foward to Summer Hols. Weather was great
for two weeks but that looks like the best of the Summer weather.
-
April : A busy month. Looking forward to the Bealtaine festivities
in Newbridge as I write. I took Donal and friends to Kart
City for his birthday.
-
March : March started wild and St Patrick's Day continued the trend.
Grannio returned for the antipodes in time for the festival. Here are this
year's family Daffodil day photos.
-
February : Donal, Conal Dempsey
and Michael travelled to London to see Ireland's rugby defeat in Twickenham.
Dan fed and acommodated us for the weekend - the new house is coming along
nicely.
-
January 2002 : Well the Euro is here and it still feels like a foreign
currency. We sold our 'van' at Carne Holiday Park. The deal was done so
quickly I have mixed feelings about losing it even though I would be the
first to admit that we weren't getting the value from the mobile home.
-
December 2001 : Granny and Donal stayed in Newbridge again for Christmas.
The festivities were nicely interrupted by a break in Kilkenny's River Court Hotel
(for us anyway).
