[Liturgy Group]

In September - October 2002 a number of parishioners attended a five-week course in All Hallows College entitled, 'How to Prepare for the Sunday Eucharist'.
Following this, the need for a Liturgy group was highlighted.

In November the Ashbourne/Donaghmore Parish Liturgy Group was formed. Its aim is to support current liturgical endeavours and to work with parishioners in making our Sunday celebrations more inclusive and meaningful for all. The group has adopted a seven-meeting approach over the coming year. At these meetings, various parts of the Mass will be examined eg. Entrance Rites, Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of the Eucharist, etc. Current good practice will be supported and new initiatives relating to each part of the Mass will be introduced on a trial basis. Each initiative will then be fully reviewed after its trial period, engaging the opinions and reaction of members of the congregation. Evaluation, listening and 'small steps' will be the hallmarks of the Liturgy Group.

In Advent 2002 the Liturgy Group developed a Ministry of Welcome and Entrance Procession at selected Masses in both Ashbourne and Donaghmore.

The Liturgy Group is open to all who are interested in developing our Sunday celebrations. For more information, please phone Parish Pastoral Office on 8353098.
