Date: Sunday 21:38 13/04/03

Updated the site for Holy Week with a listing of the week's ceremonies here in the parish - see the news page. Also made some timely revisions ( the PPC meeting schedule for one! ).

More updates soon!

Date: Saturday 15:48 08/02/03

Just a routine update. Due to an oversight, the bulletin for February 2nd was not uploaded. This week's (February 9th) will be uploaded in the next few minutes.

Date: Sunday 12:14 26/01/03

Quite a bit to report! Substantial changes have been made to the site today and yesterday, including the addition of a whole new sub-section devoted to the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC). New information and an improved structure were added for Parish Groups. The site was at last updated for 2003 with all references to 2002 removed! The structure of the PPC pages may form the basis of a new look for the site at some stage. There is a remaining small problem with the widths of some of the boxes (if you look carefully!)- this will be resolved soon!

And that's about it for this week. Except to say that comments and suggestions are always welcome at ashdon@indigo.ie.

Until next time,

and Faithfully on behalf of the webteam, Niall McMahon

PS: In case you were wondering, the Parish webteam consists of myself and the Parish Office staff.

Date: Christmas Eve 2002 [21:08 24/12/02]

Just a few small changes for Christmas - and just in time! On behalf of the parish web team, have a happy and holy Christmas.

Faithfully, Niall McMahon

Date: Sunday December 08th 2002 [12:05 08/12/02]

No real changes today. Just routine maintenance.

Date: Saturday November 23rd 2002 [16:52 23/11/02]

Updated Parish news and made small amendments to Parish information. Also tidied and added a couple of events to the Parish History page. Changed some of the colours used in the site (after deciding that the yellow bands on the "contact" page were a little too much!).

The Parish Accounts for the year ending 2001 will be published electronically soon. The accounts have been available in printed form for a few months at this stage and we apologise for the delay in bringing them to you on-line.

More MP3 downloads of Parish music should be available soon! If any choirs have new recordings that they would like us to distribute, please contact the Parish Office!.

The site is due a small overhaul, so watch this space over the coming weeks!

Date: Saturday November 16th 2002

Updated the Parish News page and removed photographs from the gallery page (don't worry - more photographs soon!).

Faithfully, on behalf of the parish web team, Niall McMahon

Date: Saturday October 26th 2002

Made changes to the history, contact details and choir pages (including adding historical events for 2000, 2001, 2002 - provided by Billy Flood). Some typographical errors were corrected including reinstating the "t" in "baptism" and the "a" in "reheArsals"!

Corrected referencing error with the soundclips...

Faithfully, on behalf of the parish web team, Niall McMahon

Date: Monday 14th October 2002

Updated parish information this morning. Also added a couple of new recordings of the Ashbourne Senior Choir. This took a little longer than planned and the results posted are far from perfect! The tape recordings (of quite a high quality) from a choir rehersal were fed into this computer and recorded using Pro Tools 5.0.1 (free) and Windows Sound Recorder. The results you can download are all Sound Recorder outputs.

In the last update it was incorrectly stated that the site's HTML was fully compliant with the Worldwide Web Consortium's (W3C) HTML 4.0 standard. More correctly, it is almost compliant. The non-compliances are the use of BACKGROUND and HEIGHT attributes with the TD element. This error occurs three times on each page and will be corrected soon.

Date: Friday 13th September 2002

Carried out some of the weeding mentioned back in May (already!). The site was more or less rebuilt to make better use of CSS. Table structure has been corrected (lots of missing tr tags). Also summaries have been added for text based browsing (though the summary quality is questionable!). More image descriptions have been added and redundant font tags removed.

The HTML syntax is now consistent with the Worldwide Web Consortium's (W3C) HTML 4 standard. The certification tag will be added to the home page once verified - tonight I hope.

The style sheet was renamed as "persistent-style.css". The CSS syntax, however, is not yet fully consistent with the W3C standard.

Other changes include the renaming of the "Breaking News" link to "Parish News" - less Sky News-ish and more appropriate for listing sensitive local information!

Again if anybody has questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to send an e-mail to the parish office or directly to me at: niall@acronymchile.com. Please don't try to send attached files!

Faithfully, on behalf of the parish web team, Niall McMahon

P.S. Added hit counter - see above!

After ironing out some small problems the site was published this evening.

Faithfully, on behalf of the parish web team, Niall McMahon

Date: Wednesday 15th May 2002

After finalising details earlier this week, we have decided to go "live" quietly with the new site with an official launch sometime in the future perhaps.

This new site is almost entirely text based, using tables to achieve the layout scheme. A cascading style sheet is also used, though admittedly not to best effect at the moment - there are still too many local HTML tags on each page. I hope to do a little weeding at some stage and make the code more aesthetically pleasing and efficient.

However it all works! I have tested the site on IE 6.0, Netscape 6.0 and Opera 5.0 and I have been told by a reliable source that it looks fine on Mozilla and a few other browsers used by a small percentage of our more technical, generally Linux oriented, audience.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or criticisms, please forward them to ashdon@indigo.ie,

Faithfully, Niall McMahon

Date: Sunday February 24th 2002

Please bear with the website - improvements are on their way! The team has met several times this month and we are still on target for an Easter release of the new site.

We have had some difficulty keeping the on-line weekly bulletin up-to-date - this has been my fault I'm afraid - it shouldn't happen again.

If you have any suggestions or technical queries, please contact the parish office or noisiel@voila.fr

Faithfully, Niall McMahon

Date: Tuesday January 29th 2002.

The web team met for the first time this year and set out a plan of action for the coming weeks, including meeting times and targets for next week. A first draft of the new site should be ready by next week (04/02/2002).

Faithfully, Niall McMahon

Date: Saturday, January 5th 2002.

Just a short note to keep you informed! We have to apologise for the lack of updates to this site recently. We hope that this site will be kept "current" throughout 2002. If you have any concerns, please contact us directly at "noisiel@voila.fr" or care of the parish office at "ashdon@indigo.ie".

A parish web team was formed in October of this year to oversee the construction of a new parish site to replace this functional site. Work is proceeding slowly, but we hope to have the new site in place by Easter at the latest. We will keep a log in this location of our progress and of any news that may be of interest to internet enthusiasts!

On behalf of the parish web team,

Faithfully, Niall McMahon
