On
Tuesday 30 March 2004 WYD presented the Irish premiere of this play
by the award-winning young Italian writer Letizia Russo.
Dead
End is a daring look at contemporary youth culture, exploring issues
such as identity, religion, power, sex and drugs. The play tells the
story of a group of young people who live in an unreal, isolated community
whose rules strangely parallel those of the real world.
In
the early nineties JENNIE GRANGEL studied drama in Dublin, where
she then set up her own drama school, the ABC School of Drama, which
worked with inner city youth projects. She then returned to her
native New Ross, where she currently lives with her two children,
Sadhbh and Rian. For the past four years, she's been a drama tutor
with WYD.
She was assistant director to Scott
Johnston (Land of Stuff, 2001) and director of Fair
Play, Foul Play (2002) and numerous in-house productions including
A Midsummer Night's Dream and Dreamcatchers, all
for WYD.
