The Kerry Home, Garden and Motor Show finally went ahead over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend and attracted thousands of visitors from all over the country. This is the Show's 13th year and it looks like it was the best ever.
The massive event was staged in the Dome in the spacious Brandon Car Park and housed a record number of 175 stands, making it Ireland's biggest such event.
Exhibition organiser, Alan Collins from Tralee, organises events such as this nationwide on a regular basis. This event runs annually in places such as Galway, Limerick, Cork, Sligo, Longford, Roscommon, Mayo, Clare and Donegal. Approximately 45,000 people visited the Exhibition over the Easter weekend and were treated to a wide range of sights, ranging from decking, garden furniture, conservatories to kitchens, kitchen appliances, homeware products and the latest car models.
In an effort to make the Show as family-friendly as possible, Barney, Pikachu and Bob the Builder were invited to entertain the kiddies on Bank Holiday Monday. Charlie Wilkins, gardening writer with 'The Irish Examiner' was special guest at the Show and was on hand to answer the most taxing of garden-related questions. The Ballyseedy Garden Centre and Down To Earth Gardening Services from Tralee together built a model garden, which turned out to be one of the star attractions at the Show.
For those not able to attend the event itself, Radio Kerry maintained a constant presence, broadcasting for the three days of the Exhibition from their new Lee Strand Outside-Broadcasting Unit, located outside the main door. So there was a chance to meet Donagh McGrath, Ger O'Sullivan, Seamus O'Mahony, Sean Crowley and other famous on-air personalities.
As well as allowing you entry to the Kerry Home, Garden and Motor Show, your £6 admission ticket also bought you the right to enter a fabulous competition to win an Infrared Sauna, valued at £3,500. The lucky winner drawn at 6:15pm on Monday 16th April was Seán O'Keeffe, Carrigaline, Co. Cork.
