Susannah Colby was born December 30th 1814 in Harleston and died after 1891. She married Charles Tilley in 1838. He was born on November 4th 1809 in Bungay and died before 1891. Susannah was christened on January 10th 1815 in Thetford Meeting House. So obviously there was a big link between Thetford and Harleston early in the 1800s. In 1851 in Bridge Street, Bungay Charles Tilley is a master shoemaker employing 2 men and 3 apprentices. In 1861 Charles was a cordwainer in the same street employing 2 men and 3 boys. His eldes son was a coach painter and his next son a cordwainer journeyman. In 1881 Charles Tilley is 70 and a boot and shoe maker employing 2 men, still in Bridge Street Bungay Charles and Susannah had 7 children:
Robert Tilley married Sarah Ashton in 1867. From 1861 to 1891 he was an ironmonger's assistant in Bungay and then from 1861 in Thetford. He lived in White Hart Street, Thetford. He became may or Thetford for three consecutive years. Robert and Sarah had ten children
