Local stories and poems . . .
SINCE the last issue of Skerries News, we had our annual 'Christmas Fayre' on Tuesday December 11 in Keane's Bus Bar. Members of the committee, and artists and friends of the Society, contributed sketches and musical items.
Ronan Loughman played melodies on the violin and David O'Connor recited some poems.
Marie Synnott read one of her own short stories called 'Coming home for Christmas'.

Oona Roycroft read a Dylan Thomas piece called 'A Child's Christmas in Wales'. Brendan Morrissey played guitar. Roly Pickering's piece - a sketch by Joyce Grenfell was the highlight of the evening.
We had Joe Murray's rendering of 'Biddy Mulligan' followed by Bernie McKenna who sang 'Hear the wind blow'. Liam Byrne recited a poem 'Cinderella', and the evening finished with St Patrick's Parish Choir in a selection of Christmas carols.
Joe Murray was MC for the evening and we all enjoyed an entertaining night.
