Print multiple tables on same page

<<< back to Excel Tips

Suppose you have three worksheets, each containing a small table that you want printed. Rather than printing three separate pages, each with a small table, you can have Excel print all the tables on a single page. The key to this is to place pictures of each table onto one worksheet.

  1. Select the first table, the choose Edit » Copy.
  2. Go to the worksheet where you want to place the tables, and select the cell where you want to paste the picture.
  3. Hold down the Shift key and choose Edit » Paste Picture Link.
  4. Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3  for each table.
  5. You can use the worksheet grid to align the pictures with each other - hold down the Alt key as you drag and the picture will snap into a cell grid position.
  6. Choose File » Print Preview to check the layout of the sheet before you print.

By default, the pictures are linked to the source cells, so changes in the cells will be reflected in the pictures.

When you select a linked picture, the source cell references are displayed on the formula - you can edit this to refer to a different range, or, if you remove the reference completely, the picture becomes static.
