Here's a quick and simple way to take your existing detailed report and create a summary report

Open any detailed report in Design View

Click the section header you want hidden (for example Detail)

Display the Properties box and click the Format Tab

Change the Visible property to No.

Click the View button to run the report - the section you have hidden is not displayed.

Use the Save-As command and give it a different name and preserve your original. Now you have two almost identical reports - one detailed and the other a summary.
