The Northside Folklore Project has a broad range of research project's on which staff have participated. Included in these are the following:


 
  • The Travellers Project: Researching the oral tradition and material culture of Irelands travellers, many of whom are settled either temporarily or permenantly on Cork's Northside. Researcher: Catherine Fray

  • The Showbands: Concentrating on the rise of the showband phenomenon in 1960's Ireland, particularly in the Cork region. Researcher: Stephen Hunter

  • The Harriers: Recording stories and songs about Cork's important hunting, drag hunting and beagling tradition. The project includes sound recordings, photos and videos. Researcher: Caroline Cronin

  • The Schools Project: Childrens folklore is an important genre, and staff from the project recordedd childrens lore from a number of Northside schools. Researcher: Conor Kennelly

  • Children's Folklore: A collection of interviews with primary and post primary school children, taking in the slang, jokes, riddles, calendar custom and songs. This project also includes poetry. Researchers: Conor Kennelly and Lorraine Cahalane

  • Northside Fashions: A look at clothing traditions on Cork's Northside from the 1950's to the present day. The project also included interviews with shop ownrers and people who had stalls on the Coal Quay Market. Researcher: Lorraine Cahalane
