Pat
Neary is a record producer and engineer with
12 years music business experience.Pat worked in London and Dublin as recording
engineer before domiciling in Galway in 1987. He has produced or recorded
40 album releases. Owner of West One Studios in Galway, (now Temptation)
from June ’92 to May ’96. He has also taught 3 
successful sound
production courses in the Galway Film Centre.
He is also a director of Secret Productions Ltd.,
a ground-breaking record label
John O'Shaughnessy has worked in Ireland and the Netherlands as a sound engineer and has a strong background in computer software and applications for sound recording, editing, mastering and music composition.
Well,
here’s a little introduction to ourselves and our studio.................
Temptation Studio was originally established in Galway as West One Recording
Studio in 1985. It covers 2000 sq. feet encompassing a large control room
and 2 recording rooms, both visible from the control room. Pat Neary,
who had worked in the studio since 1986, finally took it over in 1992.
The studio has gone through several upgrades in the last few years, going
from a 16-track analogue to 24-track digital recording studio. In 1997
Pat formed a partnership with John O’Shaughnessy, upgraded the studio
further and changed the name to Temptation Recording Studio. The
studio now supports many new forms of digital recording and sound processing
such as sampling and has extensive MIDI facilities.
Our
main service offered up until recently was selling recording time. The
facility caters for 24 track digital recording with a good array of sound
processors, reverbs, effects, compressors, gates, exciters etc.. Post
production is aided with computers, samplers, hard disk recorders. Complete
MIDI and synchronisation options are available. We have both digital and
analogue high-end tools for mastering and editing.
Since the end of 1996 we have been offering soundtrack recording and composition
for film, TV and broadcasting. This has developed from the use of sampling
techniques, MIDI sequencing, digital sound banks of instruments and sound
effects, and the studio’s access to session musicians. We have brought
out a Demo tape as an indication to what we can offer. This tape was sent
at that time to producers around Ireland.
In 1998 to 1999 we recorded the voices for a 26 episode animated TV series for MAGMA FILM Productions. We assisted in
the casting of american voice actors and director.
These services also extend themselves to advertising
and multimedia
The
Studio also supports Secret Music Ltd., a small Galway based production
company for local artists with it’s focus on modern rather than traditional
music.
Finally, Temptation Recording Studio is the only established studio operating in Galway city and its environs.
