Ticket Famine Hits Hard
This is one of the most treasured and sought after items in Kerry at the moment - a ticket to Sunday's Millennium All-Ireland Finals in Croke Park. However, only 7,000 tickets have made it to the Kingdom this year and so, for approx. 120,000 fans, their only other option is to either watch the match on television or else travel to Dublin ticketless and try to get as close to the action as possible.
Meanwhile all trains out of the Kingdom on Sunday have already been sold out as have flights to the capital. The fact that Croke Park is undergoing major renovations at present has added dramatically to the annual shortage of match tickets and it is hoped that next year there will be tens of thousands more places available. It still won't be enough to satisfy the needs of all of the fans who would like to be there in person, but at least it will go some way towards rectifying the problem. Remember, the match will be covered live on RTE Network 2 TV, RTE Radio 1, Radio Kerry (96.2, 96.6, 97 and 97.6FM) as well as on the Internet at radiokerry.ie.
