Susanna Mary Colby 1841

Susanna Mary Colby was born about 1841 in Bungay and was still alive in 1891. She married George Appleton in 1864, the son of John and Elizabeth Appleton. He was born about 1842 in Saxlingham and was also still alive in 1891.

George Appleton's father was a farmer of 70 acres employing 2 men and 1 boy in Tunstead Norfolk. They lived at Frogs Hall Farm, Mitford (Swanton Morley).

On the 1881 Census George and Susanna Mary Appleton are found living in Spencer House, Battersea, Surrey. George is a builder employing 68 men and 12 boys. In 1891 they were living at 141 St John's Hill, Wandsworth.

I have a portion of headed paper entitle Turtle & Appleton, Buildings and Contractors, Specer House, 141 St John's Hill (near Clapham Junction Station) Loneon S.W. dated 1884.
