Ann (Meek) Colby 1838 |
|
Ann (Meek) Colby was born in 1838 in Bungay and died in 1917. According to the Colby Connection "Ann was the eldest daughter of George and Elizabeth Colby. She had auburn hair, was a 'marvellous' needlewoman, perhaps rather prim and given to reading her Bible. Together with her sister Lizzie she helped to bring up James Colby's children in Bridge House. She worked as a buyer for a store in Thetford, sometimes travelling to London on business. Her last years were spent at Rossiter Road where she was looked after by her niece, Bessie Ife (nee Ling), and there Edie Gray (nee Ife) remembers her playing hymns in the dark. She died of a cancerous growth in the head." |
