Skerries Historical Society Archive
Thanks to the co-operation of Fingal County Council Parks Department, the archive-room made available in Ardgillan Castle has been refurbished and endowed with purpose-built shelving. The
Society has purchased specialist archival storage boxes and containers and work continues on the classification and recording of material. Donations or long-term loans of items which
could be included in the archive are welcome. Please contact any committee member.
A Chronicle of our Times
Snow fell in Skerries August 2000– but on what date? When was it that the Holmpatrick Hotel was razed to the ground? These and other events are now being recorded in a hard-back
register presented to the Society by Maighréad Ní Mhurchadha. Members are invited to read and record at the monthly meetings. Members’ subscriptions £5 annual
fee will be received by Hon. Treasurer Brian O’Byrne at any meeting.

Links with Skerries Community College
We are delighted to record that pupils from the Community College presented a number of short papers on subjects of local history to a special meeting of the Society held in
Skerries Mills on Saturday 7th April2001. Our thanks are due to Ms Sadie Doyle who made the event possible.
Time and Tide Volume III
Now Available from the Society and from local booksellers.
Our first volume of papers from the archive Time and Tide Vol. 1, published in 1998 is now a collector’s item. Volume 2, launched in May 2000 is selling well and we have now published Volume 3. Publishing research papers has become part of our ongoing work in the Society and while monies generated from sales go some way towards printing costs, we are in need
of some generous sponsorship.
Thanks to Pauline & Richard Keane, (The Bus Bar) for continued hospitality.
