Irish High Crosses

Termonfeckin

Termonfeckin, Co Louth, a monastery was founded here by St Fechin in the 7th Century, but little of the monastery remains today, In the Graveyard of St Fechin's Church of Ireland, is a Smaller than usual High Cross, Standing around 9ft high. On the East face is a Crucifixion scene, detail shown below.

The West face has an image of Christ in Glory and the ring on both east and west has an interlacing celtic design. The shaft and sides of the cross are covered in geometric celtic patterns. There is also the base of another cross nearby.
