Victoire Balfe (Soprano 1837-1871) |
Born Paris 1st September 1837. Daughter of M W Balfe. She studied under W Sterndale Bennett, M Garcia and her Father. On the 28th May 1857 she first appeared as Amina in La Sonnumbula. Afterwards she sang in Ireland and Italy. She married Sir John F Crampton but later was divorced and married Duke de Frias a Spanish nobleman. She died in Madrid 22nd January 1871.
