I am seeking information on this lady, so far all that I have gathered is
She was one of the first Irish Artists to make a Commercial
Recording in Ireland. This was for the Berliner Co. in Dublin in
1899 the Song "When Love is Kind" I am very fortunate in
having an original of this record, possibly the only one in
existence. She also recorded "I wish I were on yonder hill"
I also have the Libretto for " An Entirely new and original Comic
Opera" in three acts entitled STRONGBOW or The Bride of the Battle
Field Written by W Percy French & L H Brindley Music by W Houston
Collisson. First produced at The Queen's Royal Theatre Monday May 2nd
1892. In the long cast list Mdme Je\nie Rosse sings the part of
Devorgilla.
She was a pupil of Charlotte Sainton –Dolby, Randegger and
William Shakespeare. She sang for some time in Grand opera and also with
the Carl Rosa Co. She married a Dubliner, Harry Quinton and taught at the
RIAM from 1891, Vocal studies, Declamation and Deportment !! She also took
up writing libretti, one of which was for Charles Vincent's operetta The
Japanese Girl She later became the Managing Director of
Leinster School of Music.Of her pupils she said "The great
drawbacks in this country of turning out successful pupils are as
follows.(a) the pupils apparent inability to make a sustained and strenuous
effort; (b) the want of richness and compass in voices, and the often
delicacy of physique;(c)inferior musical education early in
life, principally arising from the difficulty of hearing good music and good
artists, and (d) and the young students' placid content with their
own mediocrity." *

A wonderful book I recommend it unreservedly.

If the person who wrote the section on Jeannie Rosse would contact me I
would be most grateful.
She was later known as Professor Jeannie Quinton-Rosse. As yet I
have not been able to establish when and where she was born , and where
& when she died
