THE  GREAT  AWAKENING

 PART I

CHAPTER 2

Into Eternity, where all is One, there crept a tiny, mad idea, at which the Son of God remembered not to laugh.  In his forgetting, did the thought become a serious idea and possible of both accomplishment and real effects.  The Son of God was at Peace until he asked for special favour.  And God did not give it, for the request was alien to Him.

To "make special" is to "single out", or  to "make alone", and thus make lonely.  You could not ask this of a Father who truly loved His Son.  God did not do this to you.  Could He set you apart, knowing that your Peace lies in His Oneness?  God is not special, for He would not keep one part of what He is unto Himself, not given to His Son, but kept for Him alone.  And what could God give but Knowledge of Himself?  What else is there to give?  God denied you only your request for pain, for suffering is not of His Creation.

In Peace the Son of God needed nothing, and asked for nothing, for he knew that he both had everything, and was everything.  The belief that he could give and get something else, something "more-than-everything", cost him the awareness of Heaven and of his Identity.  The question "What am I?" was the beginning of doubt.  And the Peace of God's Son was shattered, for he no longer understood his Father.

If the Son did not wish to remain in peace, he could not remain at all.  For a darkened mind cannot live in Light and must seek a place of darkness where it can believe it is where it is not.  God is told that part of Him belongs to Him no longer.  He must sacrifice your Self, and in His sacrifice are you made more, and He is lessened by the loss of you.  God did not allow this to happen, yet you demanded that it happen, and therefore believed that it was so.
