Ireland

I came to Ireland through a fax, asking whether I was interested in an excavation (Temple Bar). And then another fax, was I interested in another excavation (Lisheen). I said 'yes' and so I came over to have a look.

At first everything went wrong, including me standing alone in the middle of Dublin in the unavoidable rain without my suitcase and having no telephone numbers at all or an adress to stay. But all the way through the feeling on Ireland and the work was good. So I stayed. And worked. And enjoyed the work. And enjoyed the people, the music and the dancing.

So now, after half my family has visited me at some stage, my partner and I chose to buy a house here, in the Slieve Ardagh hills, 20 minutes from Kilkenny in Kilmanagh.

We still jump on two legs, between Netherlands and Ireland, depending on work etc., but in a few years, when the (cottage)house has been fashioned into a livable surrounding.

My relatives on the internet:
As we are a pretty international family (me in Ireland, my sister in Germany) we bought a PC with internet connection for our mother in 1997. She doesn't have a homepage, but she's very active with email and we are very grateful for this.
Birthe, my 'little' sister, emigrated to Germany in 1995 and married a German in August this year. Her homepage is called Birthe's Playground.
Kirsten is one of the beautiful girls of my brother Gerard, has also her own homepage.
Phylicia, her little sister, of course doesn't stay behind with hers.
Bas, the son of my cousin, also started his experience with Internet on his homepage.
