Alternative Miss Limerick to Take the Nation by Storm

Miss Lillet Shannon Banks, the Alternative Miss Limerick is set to take the nation by storm in the upcoming Alternative Miss Ireland Competition in the Olympia in Dublin.

Hotly tipped to scoop the title, Miss Lillet swept the boards at the Alternative Miss Limerick in November, after elegant day wear and sassy swim wear, Miss Lillet made her final appearance in a sky blue period costume accompanied by her four minders. In a lightening transformation, she changed from Marie Antoinette to Jean Butler and Riverdanced her way to the title.

Lillet is keeping tight-lipped about her ensemble for the big night in Dublin.

“I am all ready, brand new clothes, wigs, shoes, music and some new tricks up my sleeve but I am not going to give anything away,” said Miss Lillet.

“My main priority is to do Limerick proud on the night.” Miss Lillet enjoys taking the five mile road on a Saturday night. Her favourite fantasy is to have a night of passion with Daniel O’Donnell.

Miss Lillet will not be the only drag queen waving the Limerick flag on the night as the legendary Shyanne VanHouten the Essex bird from Limerick will also be competing. Many of those in the know are putting their money on Shyanne who will be the first drag queen ever to sing live at an Alternative Miss Ireland pageant. Shyanne is also keeping quiet about her act all she is giving away is that she has been jetting back and forth to London shopping quite regularly and her line up promises to be novel.

The competition will include day wear, swim wear, evening wear and a talent round. It will be hosted by Miss Panti and all proceeds will go to AIDS charities.

The Alternative Miss Ireland is on in the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on March 11. Fans will get a second chance to cheer on Limericks two premiere drag queens at their homecoming in Yum- Yum at the Glentworth on St Patrick's Night. Yum-Yum is Limerick’s only strictly gay club. It runs every Saturday night in the Glentworth Hotel except for the first Saturday of every month when the Gay Switchboard take over.
