When and how did the Star-Trek group start? |
| A1-
On March 2000, a few gay friends thought it would be fun to have a
Kathryn Janeway Birthday Party. The birthday of the character falls
on the 20th of May (see "Year of Hell" episode~ VOYAGER),
so we made some enquiries about geting a real ship for the ocassion:
a barge in the Grand Canal, Dublin. Then we contacted Outhouse, and
organized a meeting to see who would be interested. Not enough
people turned up, but those who did decided to meet once a month,
and the adventure began. |

is the official name of the group? |
| A2-Gay
Trekkies |

| Q3-How
many people were in it when it first started and how many people are
in it at the moment? |
| A3-When
it began, there were four girls involved. Over the months, about 40
people have gotten in touch with us, although numbers fluctuate at
every meeting. At the moment, there is a core-crew of about 10
people. The attendance to our last meeting was 15. |

| Q4-What
kind of events are run in the group? |
A4-We
meet monthly to gossip and watch Star-Trek videos. Crewmen also
bring all sorts of suggestions to the meeting. Here are some
examples of things we've done:
-The group has a Log-Book with posters, fliers, incoming
transmissions, pictures, and info on any queer aspect to
the Star Trek series.
-Our modest
Communication array = an e-mail
address (but see below!)- deals with questions from alien
species, ocassional first contact protocol, as well as keeping
crewmembers posted on any
developments.
-The group wrote an article for the "In Touch" pages
(requested by them) of the "Gay Community News" (GCN)
that appeared on the September 2000 (current)
issue of the magazine.[See Question14]
-Members of the crew
made a lifesize-cardboard-
figure of Seven of Nine (a character from VOYAGER)to
advertise the group. The beautiful half-alien stands at the
entrance to the OUThouse at the moment.
-Members of the crew wrote a lesbian-themed script for VOYAGER.
It has been submited to Paramount for consideration.
-The group is at the
moment preparing a WEBSITE with updates
on crew-activities, as well as a queer-star-trek-database
and lots of mad sections, pictures,links, etc.
-Many other ideas have been suggested and are now in the process
of being researched/developed. |

Do members have to meet a certain criteria to join? |
| A5-The
group is a forum for Queer Star-Trek fans.

Physical-Entry-Test,
which includes the following:

e)- Adjust Seven of Nine's implants
f)- Travel at warp-speed
g)- Share a bucket with Odo

Is it exclusive to the Gay Community? |

How often do you meet? Where do you meet? |
| A7-We
meet monthly, the second tuesday of every month. Briefings take
place at the Outhouse-Space-Station, South-William-Street, Dublin,
at 8pm. |

Although other science-fiction-fantasy series/themes are sometimes
