Time Does Not Roar

Time does not roar through torrents
or tumbling tides
or the beat of gong
or clack of pendulum
of a great grandfather clock
in an old country house
wainscoted
its leaded panes
catching the movement of light

but whispers through stones
and the wheeling of celestial bodies
where angels speak in numbers

or with the sound of skin flaking
from the living flesh

or the cellular relay that passes on
the message of silence

in silence
