  • Road Closures During Rose Festival 2001

    Restrictions

With the Festival Dome and Bird's Amusements taking up a substantial number of parking areas and the unavailability of Ballymullen Barracks, plans have been put in place to address the influx of cars expected throughout the Festival.

Sunday is expected to be particularly busy. Parking will be available at the following venues free of charge:

    • Kerry Foods, Killerisk
    • Lee Strand Premises, Edward Street
    • Fels Point Development
    • GAA Grounds, Balloonagh
    • Garvey's Carpark
    • Dunnes Stores Carpark, Boherbee

Fee-paying carparking will be available at the two multi-storey carparks, located at Edward Street and Maine Street.

Any vehicle parked in a restricted area will be towed away.

On Sunday 26th August traffic will be diverted in a one-way system around Tralee town from all the main approach roads.

From the Killarney Road, through Killerisk onto the South Circular Road, the Canal Road, Basin Road, Matt Talbot Road, North Circular Road and John Joe Sheehy Road. Traffic can turn left from any of these roads but cannot turn right into the town centre.

    • The area enclosed by Denny Street, The Mall, The Square, Staughton's Row and Ivy Terrace, Castle Street from its junction with Edward Street to its junction with Ashe Street.
    • Ashe Street from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Castle Street/The Mall.
    • Prince's Quay from its junction with James' Street to its junction with Ivy Terrace.
    • Mary Street from its junction with Ivy Terrace to the Abbey Car Park.

These streets will be closed to traffic from:

    • 6:30pm - 1:00am on Friday 24th August
    • 6:00pm - 1:00am on Saturday 25th August
    • 12 noon - 1:00am on Sunday 26th August
