SIGNS EXPRESS CORK was established in Jan 1997 by Vincent Scanlon. Vincent is a native of Cork, grew up in Bishopstown, attending school at Presentation Brothers, Mardyke/Western Road. Third level education started with a 3 year Business Studies Diploma at C.I.T. Bishopstown, and continued with night study through professional accountancy exams, A.C.M.A.
After 9 years working in Dublin, with strong senior level business experience to his benefit, and an awareness of the poor level of customer service offered by many companies, he decided it was time to be his own boss. On the birth of their son Tomas, Vincent, and his wife Susan decided, it was also time to move back to their native Cork City.
After some research, Vincent identified the Signs Express franchise as his chosen route to business ownership. He was delighted to be appointed the first Irish Signs Express franchisee outside Dublin, and the 3rd Irish Franchisee.
During 1999, Vincent purchased the business of Houlihan Bros. Truck Spraypainters and signwriters. This business trades as Scanlon Houlihan Limited. Customers include SuperValu, Centra (45' trailers), Maxol (oil tankers), and McCarthy Commercials (Volvo trucks).
The continuing success of the initial Signs Express business has resulted in Vincent opening the second Signs Express franchise at Model Farm Road Cork (June 2000).
