An tOireachtas 90th Anniversary Exhibition
Approximately 500 paintings and sculptures were featured in the 90th Anniversary Oireachtas Art Exhibition, which opened at the world famous Guinness Hopstore on September 13th 1995. The exhibition continued until the 28th of September. All the works submitted were titled in Gaelic and had never previously been shown in Dublin.
The Oireachtas Art Exhibition is one of the most prestigious events in the Irish Art Calendar and provides a forum for both emerging and established artists. First held in 1905, early exhibitors included Jack B. Yeats, William Pearse, Nathaniel Hone, Walter Osborne and Nelly O'Brien. For the past 50 years works have also been accepted from overseas artists who have been resident in Ireland for at least 10 years. [Top]
