Back in 1990, The Secret of Monkey Island was released, then came Monkey Island 2, LeChuck's Revenge. Now - the year is 1997, and LucasArts have finally decided to return to this brilliant gaming series. Featuring all-new SVGA graphics, the new game will need a Pentium 90 machine, however it is currently undergoing tests to see its performance on a 486, and the results will be posted on this site when I have them. Ron Gilbert - the original creator or Monkey Island, is not involved with this game, as he recently left LucasArts and started up his own computer games company.

The new Guybrush Threepwood As you can see from the pictures, this is the most 'cartoony' of LucasArts' adventure games to date. It uses the same interface as in Full Throttle, eg. when you click the mouse button a list of verb icons will appear. As with all of LucasArts' latest adventure games, CMI features digital speech and music. Testers hired by LA say that there's about 40-60 hours of gameplay altogether.

The new LeChuck Guybrush Threepwood returns once again in CMI, along with the now-demon-pirate LeChuck and Elaine Marley. The plotline revovles around Guybrush placing a cursed ring (hence the title) given to him by LeChuck on Elaine Marley's finger - turning her to gold. You - as Guybrush - must 1) Return Elaine back to normal while 2) try and stop LeChuck from stopping you first. Also making return appearances are Wally
the cartographer(now a pirate), Lemonhead the cannibal from the first game, and, of course, the salesman Stan. More info and pictures to come once I finish downloading the demo of CMI, including pictures of the new interface.

Taken from the LucasArts website:
The Curse of Monkey Island is the rollicking third installment of the popular Monkey Island game series, which includes the award-winning Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge. Curse finds Guybrush taking up dull blade and rapier wit against LeChuck to save Elaine Marley, his one true love, from being made into the evil pirate's demon bride.

The Curse of Monkey Island, like all graphic adventures from LucasArts, challenges players to become integrally involved in the story by finding various objects and solving a variety of puzzles in order to finish the game. Through an intuitive interface players can pick up and use objects, examine each item collected in their inventory and talk to various characters throughout the game.
