The Irish Centre For Talented Youth



C.T.Y.I (The Irish Centre For Talented Youth) was set up in 1992 in Dublin City University, in co-operation with John Hopkins University, Baltimore. It aims to identify high ability children from diverse social backgrounds and help them reach their full potential through fast paced, stimulating weekend and summer programmes. It aims to assist parents and teachers by providing access to information and resources and to research and evaluate talent development.

CTYI Activities


Talent Search : The Talent Search process provides valuable assessment and information for students, parents and teachers while students are still young enough to plan their education.

CTYI Summer Programme :CTYI provides courses for students aged 12-16 years. Courses include subjects as diverse as Astronomy, Archaeology, Philosophy, Creative Writing and Biotechnology.

CTYI Young Students Programme (8 - 13 Years) : Two Saturday Courses & Three one week Summer Schools are given at Dublin City University for students aged 8 - 13 years.

Teacher Courses : The special needs of highly able students.

Discovery Days :
Topics include :
- Space exploration
- Art & Drama Workshop
- Big Bangs & Little Explosions
- Careers in Science

Correspondence Classes :
Correspondence courses are provided by CTYI in :

2. Psychology
