Company Background

Pale Blue Productions has been staging at least two plays every year since it’s inception in 2001. It’s core purpose is to stage works by writer/director Garret Baker though last year we did branch out into adapting “The Grimm Fairy Tales.” It’s main driving force is an emphasis on character driven texts, on the idea it is sometimes the quietest conversations, the seemingly slight decisions we make and actions we take that often make the most dramatic moments and changes in our lives. Black humour is also one of the key elements of the company’s work (which is why we were so attracted to the extremely nasty humour of the Grimm brothers).

Formed by Baker and producer/designer Sheena Malone the company has worked in most small theatres in Dublin, starting with upstairs in The International Bar and recently making a regular home of Andrews Lane Studio. We have worked with a number of talented actors with a particular emphasis on new or emerging talent and regularly rely on the skills of film and theatre composer Mark Hendrick.

This summer we will be staging “The Realist”, the premiere of a new play, by Garret Baker in Andrews Lane Studio for two weeks in June.
