Just how nosey is Java anyway?

Ok, we all know it's one of the most commonly used ways of making web pages come alive, so you probably come across it all the time, don't you?  Yup, Java is certainly a subtle operator, you're never quite sure whether you're staring it in the face or not!

As with all facets of the internet, if you don't know it's going on the chances are it's doing something you don't want it to, like tell the web site owner certain details about you.  Here's a list of some of the things that I can tell about you, simply by opening this web page:

I intentionally left the Applet's background in grey.  Had I not deliberately displayed this information I could have alternatively sent it off to anywhere in the world, added it to my database, or of course being a greedy capitalist type geezer I could then sell that information to a marketing company.  Of course I won't but...

There's no need to get too paranoid though, from what I can see, Java can't find out THAT much about you, mostly the type of information I have showed above.  Apart from any security glitches that may exist (if anyone knows of any please let me know) it's pretty harmless.
