OK, so here's a 'me FAQ': * You a dude or dudette? Dude* Where in the world is Nivek? Ok, well if get a world atlas, look for Ireland, and if you look really closely on the southernmost part in county Cork you just might see me waving up at you. Of course if you do it's time to check yourself in to a funny farm....
* So like, do you earn lotsa money and stuff? I'm now a Computer Science degree graduate, working in Alcatel Ireland Ltd. in Bandon, Cork. I'll soon be moving on to Cliff Campbell & Associates in Blackrock, Cork though, looking forward to it!
* Are you into the hard stuff? I'm into computers - a Machead (well hard, us macheads), soccer (Man. Utd. of England, Cork City of here), films and any cool stuff.
* Whaddya do with computers? Lets not get personal..... ;] no no no - I like doing lotsa multimedia type things, like plugging a video camera into my Mac, scan things, watch telly on it, examine the workmanship in entertainment titles (Quake - highly recommended!!) ;] , play music CDs, do 3D stuff, some DTP, some MIDI and surf the 'net. I do some programming too. Just recently I've discovered Minix, a Unix clone for the Mac, so I'm playing with that. My big problem is lack of hard drive space!
* So, which is better - Mac's or Wintels? In a word, Macs! They're a far superior machine!! Here's some reasons for what I'm saying: - easier to use, and everybody knows it - behind the Mac OS is probably the most innovative computer company around, Apple. With Apple constantly coming up with new cool stuff and updating the cool stuff they already have, like QuickTime, QuickTime VR, QuickDraw 3D, QuickDraw GX, OpenDoc & Cyberdog, Speech & Speech recognition, Cocoa and HotSauce but to name some of their software, then there's hardware like Newton, eMate, those ultimately cool "I've-got-no- eject-button" floppy disk drives, scanners, printers and of course the Macs themselves! And when the new OS, Rhapsody, comes out us Mac people will be as happy as computer users can get. - the only serious competitor to the Mac OS, Windows doesn't quite cut it, Microsoft have even admitted that the Mac OS is superior to Windows!! I didn't hear anything about those bug fixes that were supposed to be released shortly after Windows 95's release - did that ever come about?? - The new G3 chip which the newest Macs use along with faster buses mean they are even faster than anything the Wintel platform has produced. Even Apple's laptop, the Powerbook G3 is faster than Pentiums! - no other OS draws such emotion from it's users. - the percentage of Mac users who repurchase a Mac is astounding, the highest product loyalty in the world over a number of years! - the chip powering all new Macs, the PowerPC chip, has been proven to be much faster than the fastest the Wintel platform has had to offer, the PowerPC speeds are rocketing, with talks of 533MHz by the end of 1997!!
