A Just War
From noon tomorrow
There will be a state of war
Between us and them.
Our patience has been exhausted.
Negotiations have broken down.
Our army is ready,
And all available weapons
Are in their proper station.
This is a just war,
Quite different from any other
That went before.
We are fighting, not only for ourselves,
But for humanity,
For the future of our children,
For freedom and for democracy.
God is on our side.
The enemy will use all means
To overcome our determination.
We must fight to the bitter end.
There can be no peace
Without unconditional surrender.
We must exert our strength
To the limit of our ability.
Only in victory can civilisation be saved.
We have heard it all before,
And know the consequences
Of Hamburg and Hiroshima,
Men squealing in pain,
Wide eyed children
Taking hours to die.
When the time comes
We shall do it all again.
