The Dancing Floor

You can only tell me

All that I knew before.

At the end of each long corridor

There stands an open door.

Door beyond door lies open,

There is no time to stand,

We move behind the ages

To seek the promised land.

You must stay beside me

Whoever you may be,

Until we both remember

The mystery of the sea.

We move beneath the ocean,

And deep below the waves

Between the wrecks of ancient ships

And dim fantastic caves.

We must go on together

Out of the evening light,

Through all the monstrous silence

And the utter dark of night.

Beneath the deep of ocean

To reach the unknown shore

At the end of the heart's long journey,

Beyond the last dark door.

And after that the rising sun

Upon the dancing floor,

Where we shall count the falling stars

And dance for evermore.
