What is massage? Massage is an ancient form of healing, used for thousands of years to offer relief from pain, restore good spirits, provide comfort, boost energy, and rejuvenate muscles. It is a very relaxing experience to receive a massage treatment. Massage uses touch to bring about emotional and physical changes and to create a feeling of wholeness in the body and mind.
Why use massage? The tactile action of massage has a great many useful effects. Massage will:
Enhance your awareness of body and breathing and so improve posture
Relieve accumulated tension and restore flexibility to tight, sore muscles
Break down waste products held in the muscles and improve the cleansing role of the lymphatic system
Signs of stress: The body is directly affected by the stress felt by everyone in their day-to-day lives - muscles tighten in response, and breath flow decreases and becomes more shallow. These reactions are reflected in a person's posture, which will alter according to where and how tension is held in various parts of the body.
Some stress is inevitable in all our lives, but too much can lead to harmful emotional and physical side effects.
The body's response to massage: Massage actually speeds up the natural healing process of the body, calms the mind, and settles the emotions. By reaching the emotions as well as the body, massage evokes changes in the whole person. This makes it the perfect antidote to stress. The emphasis of massage is on helping yourself before you become ill or in the early stages of illness, rather than after you have developed chronic symptoms.
When you are free from stiffness and aches and pains and are full of vigour you 'sparkle' with energy.
Most of us know this feeling, but experience it only rarely. For much of the time we operate below optimal. Regular massage will help you attain this level of well-being. Learn to recognise the signs of tension in your body.
Massage stimulates your body, producing a healthy flow of energy throughout. And, of course, there is the added benefit of having a relaxing and soothing massage using an original blend of rich and penetrating oils that stimulates circulation and relieves aches and pains.
