Knockeen Dolmen

The uprights of this very impressive portal tomb stand at around 2.8 metres high and form a sort of porch with the doorstone, pictured below, which reaches almost to the same height.

This huge megalith has two capstones which is common to this area. At present it is part of a boundary between two fields. The overall height of this dolmen is some 3 1/2 metres. If you are in the Waterford City, Tramore area then this megalith is well worth a visit. Other Sites in this area include Gaulstown Dolmen and Mathewstown wedge tomb

Situated: FromTtramore take the R682 north at Clooneys crossroads tke a right after 2 kilometres go straight through another cross roads, you will come to a farm on your right, the dolmen is across the field on your left.
