Cahermacnaughten

This Caher is famous for being the Law School of the O'Davoren family where Duald MacFirbis studied the Brehon Law. It was probably built in the medieval period as a fortified farmstead. The walls are almost ten feet high and huge stones were used in it's constuction the fort had a batter of 1 in 8 and inside the fort there are the foundations of a large house and another two buildings.

Situated: about 3 kilometres north of Noughaval. From Kilfenora take the Lisdoonvarna road north and then follow the signs for Noughaval, keep going North on this road for approximately 6 kilometres the fort is down a small road on your left and is well sign-posted.
