NEED FOR TRAFFIC CALMING IN CRUMLIN

More traffic calming measures are necessary in the Crumlin-Kimmage area, said John Goodwillie, the Green Party candidate for Crumlin-Kimmage, in a statement. "Residential roads which were never designed for high traffic levels are being used for through traffic. Cars are travelling too fast on narrow roads like Captain's Road, and the Clonmacnoise Road/Bangor Road roundabout invites high speeds. There is a hazard to children going to and from school, and parents are afraid to let their children play outside.

"There are many couples with children moving into the area as houses become vacant, and there is a serious danger of accidents.

"If necessary, slight changes in bus-routes may be needed to permit insertion of ramps or chicanes, or other appropriate measures", John Goodwillie said.

"Immediate planning by the Corporation is necessary to ensure that measures can be taken at the earliest stage."
