Spring 2004 :  Our cottage has had a new roof put on it this past winter as well a a repaint both inside and out. Regular visitors to Kilcoleman should notice quite a difference. At least they won't have the fear of a roof falling on top of them!

We now have the facilities to accept credit cards for the coming season which should make it much more convenient for guests to transact business with us.
We presently have 8 weeks booked for 2004, so to avoid disappointment all we can say is "book early".

April: The Bandon is fishing well. To date (22nd April) over 45 spring fish have been reported to anglers. At Kilcoleman we have had 4 nice fresh fish of which we have returned 2. Fishing effort has been slack to date. However bookings are heavy for next month so hopefully there will be more fish to report.

May: During the first week of the month The Bandon had some excellent runs of spring fish. Angling activity was quiet and apart from the syndicate waters in Bandon town not many reports came in. The upper reaches of the river are well stocked suggesting these runs went through unhinderred. Kilcoleman reported three fish all caught by Jonathan Morshead. Some good sized trout were also taken of these waters. Unfortunatly drought conditions set in early in the month and the river continued dropping to an extreemly low level by mid month. By the months end virtually all angling has ceased. 18mm of rain on the 28th resulted in a small rise and 2 fresh fish were taken at Kilcoleman.

June: We now have a serious lack of water and all angling has virtually come to a halt. Despite the low water Jonathan managed a fresh 12lbs salmon from the tale of Lambs Stream at 11.00am on the morning of the 5th June. Our hearts go out to three Swiss guests who had just finished a blank week. Again in exactly the same location Bob Tetley from Cornwall lossed a similar sized fish on the night of the 6th June. Bob eventually got a nice 12lbs fish on the 9th June. This all goes to show that despite diificult conditions there are some fresh fish still running.
30th June: Sadly the draught continued up until the 23rd of the month. On that date we recorded 38mm of rainfall. This rose levels for a short period but due to the dryness of the ground much was absorbed and river levels started falling again. 3 fish were reported to have been caught on association waters during the last week of the month. One of these weighed in at 20lbs and was taken on shrimp.
