THIS IS THE MASS

Mass in LimerickThe Latin High Mass shown on this video was celebrated in the Augustinian church, O'Connell Street, Limerick, Ireland, on August 12, 2000, the Feast of St. Clare of Assisi, patron saint of television.

The celebrant was Fr. Thomas Fritschen from Kansas in the USA. He is a member of the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter, founded in 1988. The Fraternity now has more than 250 members, half of them ordained priests and the other half still in the seminary.

All Fraternity priests celebrate the old Latin Mass which was used throughout the Western Church for 1500 years until the 1960s.

The Fraternity points out:"Since our foundation, we have witnessed that when this liturgy is celebrated in all its splendour and solemnity, many people return with joy and peace to a stronger faith, to a more perfect communion, to a regular practice of religion, and to a renewed spiritual life.

The Limerick Mass was organised by the Latin Mass Society of Ireland, founded in 1999.
