Former Belvedere Players Figure in Eircom League Cup Tie
Belvedere Football Club had more than a passing interest in the Eircom League Cup tie between Bohemians and Saint Patrick's Athletic, which was played at Dalymount Park on Tuesday 21st June 2005.
Between the two teams, there were no less than 12 former Belvedere players involved on the night.
Saint Patrick's Athletic manager John McDonnell is himself a former Belvo player, as are Stephen Caffery and Gerard Rowe.
Bohemians fielded former Belvo players Mark Duggan and Mark O'Brien as well as a number of their Under 21 side for the match, including Niall O'Reilly, Conor Powell, James Lee, Mark Keane, Michael Mooney and Mark Healy, while Sean Fay was an unused sub.
Bohemians' first team coach Pat Cleary is also a former Belvo player.
In an entertaining match that produced some very good football from both teams, the more experienced Saint Pats side proved to be the stronger on the night, winning 3 - 1.
Well done to all the former Belvo players involved in the match, particularly those Under 21 players who made their first team debut for Bohemians on Tuesday night.
