University of Ulster Foyle Cup 2007

The FAI Under 16 Development Squad participated in the  University of Ulster Foyle Cup Tournament which took place in Derry from 23rd - 28th July 2007.

Manager of the Ireland team was Stephen McNutt, the FAI’s Regional Development Officer for the Donegal area, and he named an 18 man squad of players for the tournament which included Belvedere's Jimmy Keohane, Neil Harney, Lee Dixon, Jason Finn & David Lodola.

The team advanced through the group stages of the Under-16 competition with victories over New Mill (2-1), ANB Soccer Academy, Canada (5-0) and Derriaghey from Belfast (7-0).

Ireland’s quarter-final game against the Donegal League was their second match played on Thursday but they prevailed 4-0.

In a tight semi-final match played on Friday afternoon the team won 2 - 1 over Canadian side Ottawa Fury.

The FAI Development Squad secured the Foyle Cup trophy with a 3 - 0 win over South Belfast Youth League on Saturday 28th July at Derry City's Brandywell Stadium.
