The Irish Gerontological
Society held a very successful 51st Annual Scientific
Meeting on 26 and 27 Sept 2003 at our Education Centre in
Tallaght. This meeting was associated with the 250th
anniversary of the Meath Hospital and the 10th anniversary
of a dedicated geriatric medical unit in the Adelaide and
Meath Hospital. The Willie Bermingham
Memorial Lecture on Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment
of Dementia was delivered by Dr Trey Sunderland of the
National Institute of Health, USA. Over 250 delegates
attended the meeting and the 52nd Conference will take place
in Limerick in September 2004.
